On the morning of March 22, 2025, PandaEducation’s Jing’an campus welcomed a group of international learners for a hands-on cultural immersion activity centered on Qingming Festival traditions. Guided by instructor Ms. Tan in both Chinese and Japanese, participants explored the essence of the festival through crafting qingtuan (glutinous rice dumplings), a seasonal delicacy synonymous with spring.
The session began with Ms. Tan’s bilingualpresentation on Qingming customs, from historical practices like the Cold Food Festival to regional culinary traditions across China. Interactive displays of ingredients and tools helped learners visualize the diversity of seasonal foods. During the hands-on workshop, attendees practiced kneading mugwort-infused dough and mastering the art of shaping and filling the dumplings. “Each solar term has its own flavor!” remarked one participant after successfully wrapping her first red bean paste qingtuan.

To conclude the event, Panda Education giftedattendees beautifully packaged qingtuan from Xinghualou, a century-old establishment famed for its traditional treats. These edible souvenirs, blending personal creativity with time-honored craftsmanship, aim to spark cultural conversations beyond borders.
By merging language learning with tangiblecultural experiences, Panda Education continues to bridge global communities through China’s rich heritage. Stay tuned for upcoming workshops featuring dragon boat festival sachets and mid-autumn lanterns!
